Our Story

The ULU Ritual: Indulge, Reconnect, Escape

ULU is a philosophy. Born from the shared love of travel and unforgettable tropical nights, ULU was created by husband-and-wife team Abhi and Nana. They are collecting the rich flavours, colours, and sounds of Asia – from India to Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and beyond – to create a truly unique sanctuary in Utrecht.

The menu reflects a spirit of discovery, where every bite tells a story and invites playful adventure. Our signature cocktails bloom with tropical fragrance and taste, compelling you to immerse yourself in the moment. Here, time disappears, and the atmosphere encourages deep conversation, shared laughter, and community. Inspired by the warm, soulful energy of Balinese beach bars, we offer a spiritual respite from the everyday. This is the place for those seeking a soulful bar experience.

A Platform for Art and Community

The ULU experience goes beyond the plate and the glass. We invite local DJs, dancers, comedians, and artists of all kinds to bring the space to life, ensuring every night feels energetic and colourful. As Nana shares, ULU also aims to be a platform to “share knowledge and passion through workshops and community events.”
